My 6 qt 'high power' Kitchen Aide having blown it's intenal breaker while mixing a double loaf of bread, I have decided it is useless. FYI the 5 qt tilt head finished the job with no trouble, the bowl is just a little small.

Who makes a decent stand mixer in the larger home use sizes, my wife won't go for a Hobart.

I have a KA but I have read good things about the Viking. Some serious money required!

I think Bosch makes a pretty reputable one.

Any one have an opinion on the 7 qt Cuisinart?

While it does have all the accessories I could want, I have all but the meat grinder as stand alones, and think I would just buy a stand alone meat grinder. I can find one for only $50 more than the accessory.

There was just a review posted by a CI person over there. I remember that she said it seemed flimsy (?) in some way...I'll look for it. It had more personal use into than any other review I'd seen. I think that Marilyn (bunny) might have one too.

Warner, I'm curious - why no Hobart? For some reason, I thought they were the best. Or, am I thinking of something else?

trink.

I can picture you with one too. Why not just start checking Craig's List, then start framing in the mixing room addition to your kitchen.

While Hobart used to make small mixers, brand name of Kitchen Aide, they sold off the line awhile back.

Hobarts are huge, and are probably the best, I've already a 650 lb stove in that kitchen. If I put the Hobart in the kitchen I would have to put lolly columns in the basement or it and the stove would be in the basement. 32 quart rings a bell here.
