With my back injury this summer, I realized that the kitchen was making my back worse ... because the counters were much too low. However, they counters are a good height for my sweetie, so I needed a higher counter I could swap out.
So I took a large piece of laminated alderwood I'd been planning to use for a butcher block, and cut it into a big rectangle, and then added legs. And, as they say in France, "voy-lah!":

This actually works pretty well, and doubles as a breadmaking board.
