My 15"x11" non-stick is starting to stick - it's at least 10 years old.

What is your fave or which one is to be avoided :?: :?: :o

THANK YOU!

Wino, I did a lot of research and even braved Walmart to look at electric skillets. I finally selected Presto 06852 16-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass Cover. I love it.

I don't use it very often since the only 2 things I make in it. The first is cross rib pot roast with mushrooms, carrots, shallots, leeks, and potatoes. The veggies made that way are my favorite. Love the caramelization. Homemade churros is the other. A can make a huge concentric circle the way it is done in Cuba. However I am so happy I have when I do use it.

Alina - I'd love that but Presto does not sell in Canada. However, my wife and I will be taking a 1 week cooking class at the CIA in Healdsberg in January, so I will look for it then.
Thanks for your advice :D

Thanks for posting that, Alina. I've looked into electric skillets before but just couldn't make up my mind on which to get. Sometimes it's just too much of a pain to get a temp right/consistent on the stovetop griddle. Maybe Santa will bring one to me.

And how cool to take a one-week CIA class, Bill. In my dreams I'm taking a class at the French Pastry Institute in Chicago. But not this time of year when the high is 11. Please let us know what you learn!

I don't know how you can bear to leave the balmy January SK temperatures to go to California. ;-)
Enjoy.

You are all welcome.

I received my first skillet as a wedding gift in 1968. It was green and served me well for over 25 years. I am not sure what went wrong, but I had to replace it and got a square piece of junk with a blue cover. I hated that thing. It worked but was so small I could not fit a veggies with a 5 lb. roast. So I decided to get one I would actually use. I spent a long time searching and am so glad to have finally found a good one. I don't use it often, but don't mind the space it occupies, since it works so well when I do. Love the glass top.
