We have the larger Breville because I use my regular oven as little as possible 9 months out of year and we are only two people. I am getting ready to cook stuffed peppers in it tonight. I agree it does meh toast but it is "good enough" for us with everything else it does. It works on a standard outlet.

FWIW I have the Breville Compact Smart Oven and love it. In fact just recently got the butcher block cutting board made to go on top of it and it's even better. Bought it at BB&B with coupon a few years ago. I'm pretty persnickety when it comes to my countertop appliances and truly don't have one negative thing to say about it!

I bought a Breville and use it way, WAY more then expected. Ended up using the big oven quite a bit less. Even my wife manages to cook using it (banana bread). It still makes only meh toast though.

I just replaced my BSO with the CSO mainly because of the poor quality of the toast it made.
But I also wanted the steam function that is great for bread bakers. I love it!
The only compromise I had to make was the oven width; the CSO can't take quarter-sheet pans like the BSO can. However, so far it hasn't mattered.

My sister has the Kithenaid toaster oven. She is not a cook and uses this for toast (every morning), warming leftovers, and frozen dinners (which she eats regularly). She likes this oven much more than the B&D it replaced. I don't have a toaster oven. She loves this one. Just saying..... It's gotten good reviews on Macy's and Amazon.

Thanks, all. This was more useful than Consumer Reports.

I love my Breville too. When my first one died after 4 years of constant use, I replaced it with the same model. I rarely use my oven now. Everything but baking sand large toasts are fine in the Breville. I agree the toast is the only downside.

I've found that toast in the Breville was more 'baked' than toasted, the Breville dried it out. Since I toast bread or bagels nearly every morning I found that to be a problem. The steam oven, since it is sealed, holds the moisture in and, hence, makes excellent toast (even though it doesn't produce steam during the 'toast' program).

Hmmm...autocorrect or alcohol? Not sure why I was baking sand large toasts. Oh, I meant "and large roasts." *sigh*.

I was wondering what "sand toast" was, but I didn't want to ask.
