I've used Bar Keeper's Friend for as long as I can remember because that is what my mom used. Recently I bought Bar Keepers Friend spray & foam cleaner. My housekeeper says it is fantastic, works on everything.

I still use the powder for my SS pans.

I usually use Barkeeper's first then, if that doesn't get all the crud off, I'll bring out the Dawn Power Dissolver. To me, the Dawn seems to act more like an oven-type cleaner.

Thanks, all, that seems like plenty of things to try. I'm going to add to that concentrated Simple Green. I'll do some trials and let folks know which one works the best.

Fuzzy, food 52 has a feature on this now and someone in the comments put this
Quote:
My mother recently shared with me the trick to use a little ammonia on tough baked-on gunk. It stunk like crazy but it worked! I put it in with a little water and let it sit overnight and the dish easily came clean in the morning.

Jean,

Well, that can be the comparison test then ... since I've been unable to find Dawn Power Dissolver.

Josh, I got the box of 6 from Staples.com. Shipping was free and it came in a few days. It does involve a larger purchase than just a smaller bottle at the store, but the hoarder in me really likes having a stash of them. Plus the 20% off deal on cleaning supplies helped. http://www.staples.com/dawn+power+dissolver/directory_dawn+power+dissolver?fids=Department_3A_22Dish!Soap!_26!Detergent_22
