Post subject:  Update on immersion blenders?

I found an old thread on immersion blenders from a few years ago. Most like the KA. Any new recommendations that prefer the Cuisinart or other?

I have this one, Lexycat, and have always been totally satisfied with its performance. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of some of the higher-priced models, but it gets my soups smooth every time. Sometimes there's a little glob of the tomatoes or whatever stuck in the blade when I'm done, but for less than $30 I think it's a great buy.

Personally, I find variable speeds essential.

My problem with the 2-speed models is that those two speeds are "too fast" and "Jackson Pollock" (to quote an earlier post on this board).

Mine's a 10-speed KA I got on sale at Macy's.

I too have a 10-speed KA that I got on sale at Zabar's and love it - actually have 2, one for our apt and one for our upstate house.

I love the Bamix that I bought at least 10 years ago. Two speeds, more than I've ever needed; came with a mounting bracket so you can hang it inside a cabinet (which we did in the pantry! - love that it's right there but out of the way). Has a mixing disc, whipping disk and a blade. Very sturdy and powerful. The only thing it doesn't have that most of the KAs have is the shaft that is removable, I'd like to be able to stuff it in the d/w sometimes.

+1 for the 10 speed Kitchenaid. It is worth every dime.

Does KA still make a 10-speed stick blender? Amazon only has 2,3, and (at a whopping $<300) 5 speed.

That was a very well reviewed, very popular blender, but yet it seems they discontinued it. That company continues to baffle me.

Chiming in to say CI likes the KitchenAid 3-Speed Hand Blender KHB2351. It was reviewed in 2012. They also liked the inexpensive and efficient Kalorik Sunny Morning Stick Mixer but found reliability an issue.

Based on an previous thread here, I got the Bamix. I've had others before that I didn't like, but the Bamix won me over. Best stick blender I've ever had.
