I think I've had it with using my double griddle pan to cook pancakes, english muffins, etc. I just can't get the temperature right/consistent and the infrared thermometer I bought to try and get it to the right temp is basically useless. I had one eons ago (like 30 years) when it was de rigueur for wedding gifts, but I had limited storage space so it went to Goodwill at some point early on.

So I'm wondering if any of you have an electric griddle that you really like. I recall (at least I think I do) that Alina loves her Cuisinart Griddler, but I've got a panini grill thing already so am hesitant to buy a somewhat similar appliance. Plus I saw some negative reviews about the plate surfaces pitting (or something like that). Maybe they were isolated instances though.

Anyway I'd appreciate any recommendations/suggestions if I decide to take the plunge. (In other words, enable me :D )

Emilie,

We covered this on another recent thread ... About tortillas I think.

I distinctly remember the topic, but cannot find it anywhere.
I think it was a conversation mainly between Fuzzy and Paul, IIRC.
There was a griddle mentioned that was highly recommended.
Hopefully someone will remember.

Thanks Linda, you did recall correctly. I found it, and thanks so much Josh! That griddle is on sale this week for under $30. Woo hoo! Am picking one up today. Will report back after I make some english muffins later this week.

For those of you don't want to search, this is it on Amazon.com.

I have a big griddle that came with my (GE) range. I fits down the center and has its own burner. We used it once, and if mine is any indication, these don't get hot enough to work very well. I've seen some that sit on the side of the top and cover two burners, I'm guessing that these are marginally better.
Overall, the separate, portable grills can probably do a better job.
