Hmmm interesting. None of the people I mentioned in the breadmaker thread are capable of putting a stick of butter out to soften after they've used the last of it.

I keep a stick of salted butter in the fridge for bread. I just open up one end and use it on the bread, no knife need it. Wipe off the exposed end and put back. I get the perfect amount of butter that way.
