Post subject:  recommended egg slicer?

I realize this gadget was nominated for the 'useless' category but I love it :!:
Now, I am donating mine to my MIL with severe arthritis and am just checking whether the latest and greatest is out there  :?:
It must cut in both directions (not simultaneously) but be grooved for both; must be dishwasher proof, and it must be extremely durable.
Any suggestions :D

The one egg I ever sliced with my OXO was sliced (and cubed) very nicely and likely meets all the requirements.

I have this one http://www.amazon.com/Harold-Import-Company-Inc-W1020/dp/B000I1YJ80/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1400854127&sr=1-3&keywords=egg+slicer
It's not the cheapest choice but it is very well made and will last a lifetime. I bought mine a couple years ago to replace an old enameled one that was chipping its paint.

I have this one. http://www.amazon.com/New-Star-Slicer-S ... egg+slicer

Would have preferred one that cubed and although you can use the egg vertically or horizontally the vertical isn't stable. However I've come to like doing a quartering/wedge followed by the slice for various size pieces of egg that work well in egg salad. And it goes in the dishwasher.

Paul, what model oxo do you have?

When I was at Cook's I did the egg slicer testing and the Leifheit Pro Line Stainless Steel Egg Slicer won - I liked it so much I bought it and have never regretted it. It's heavy duty (handles strawberries and mozzarella without problem) and slices well both vertically and horizontally.
