Those of you who've been on this board for a while ... or the Old Board ... will know that my personal questing beast has been the thin nylon spatula, or egg-turner. Once ubiquitous and cheap, these turners vanished off the market 6 or 7 years ago, and I've been melting through my carefully hoarded supply ever since. The fat, blunt turners of today simply don't perform as well, especially for things like eggs, pancakes, and fish.

Well, deliverance is at hand! A company out of Rancho Cucamonga* called Bradshaw is now making thin nylon turners again. In multiple colors! For $2 each!



They're not as smooth and slick as my beloved vintage turners, probably because they can't use Nylon11 any more. However, they're exemplary in every other way. I'm stocking up for the next shortage.

I know what you mean about those fat, blunt turners we have been seeing for years! I still have a couple of the old ones, but I have also taken some of those thick ones down to my workshop, and sanded them thinner on my belt sander (sort of a mess with the black dust, but it cleans up well). I also bevel tops of the ends, so they slide under things better. Good to know about something that I can buy again, so I won't have to do this!

Rancho Cucamonga is one of my favorite place names to say out loud. I had to order a bunch of documents from the court district there and I am sure the San Bernardino Co. (also fun to say) clerk wondered why I giggled when she said I needed to call the Rancho Cucamonga district.

As an aside (even further aside), even though they are tough financial straits and probably understaffed, the clerks were professional, efficient and pleasant. We got the documents in under a week including mailing time, and they were exactly what we asked for.

Are you talking about this Good Cook Flexible Nylon Turner for $7.80?



That's the same company that used to made wonderful $3 silicone spatula's for Target.

This Amco spatula is by far my favorite spatula. Ultra thin, flexible, yet strong. I've had it for a dozen years, and it still performs as well today as it did on the day I bought it.

After several frenetic seconds of research, we chose an AMCO flexible spatula because it matches our wall paper. It may have been as long ago as ten years and it has not melted. Used almost daily since it is only spatula that is out in a utensil holder instead of hidden away in a drawer.

Is this the Bradshaw Spatula to which you are referring? Funny thing, this hardware place has it for $1.61, while amazon has it for $6.99, and other places for even more! Same code number and all...

Huh? You lost me about your meaning.


I found the same one for $7.79 for a six pack.

None of the spatulas pictured are the ones I'm talking about. They really aren't available online, AFAIK.

I'll take a photo later and post it.

Here's a picture. I also found some nylon/fiberglass spatulas which were thin and smooth. Less flexible, though, and I wonder if they scratch nonstick. Any, I stocked up for the next shortage; bought 5 of the nylon ones and two of the nylon/fiberglass.
