Thanks so much for the replies. It seems like the cheaper options are just as reliable as the more expensive ones. (And yes, Steve, the KA recommended by CI is the one I have. That was one of the factors that persuaded me to ignore all the one-star reviews on Amazon.)

I'm going to wait until I get my refund through AMX and then I guess I'll just close my eyes and pick one (other than a KitchenAid)!

Thanks again.

Emilie

Hi,

Lib's mixer is suffering from gingerbread overload. She wants to go tilt-head.

What has CI recommended lately? Thanks

Tim

This One appears in videos but has never been tested.

This One was tested and approved a couple of months ago. A bowl without a handle is a PIA.

An ergonomic handle makes This One worth $100 more than the Classic Plus. Lots of colors.

By selecting a KitchenAid tilt head, you will be joining a group of influential Kitchen Cognoscenti that includes Sandra Lee, Ina Garten and Martha Stewart. A group of krusaders will be along presently to set you straight about trusting CI’s product recommendations or konsidering Kitchenaid.

Cuisinart\Waring fell to "Recommended with Reservations". Must not have ponied up sufficient funds.

Jim,

I loved reading between your lines. Your unholy sisterhood seems to have a a lot in common with Kooky Kris K.

I'll have to use this respected Kitchy Karacter's judgement.

I have an old KA hand held (might be 7 speed, might be 9) that has lasted 10+ years now. I've used it mainly for light tasks (puddings, whipped cream, cake mixes and the like) with the occasional cookie dough thrown in.

I also have the artisan tilt head model with the glass bowl. I like it quite a bit. I keep it upstairs in the kitchen as it works well for all but the heaviest tasks (it's not great IMO for bread kneading, meatball mixing, and the like). I pull out my old 6 quart epicurean model lift bowl for those tasks (which is turning 13 years old this Christmas and still going strong).
