Jean,

FWIW, TJ's in the USA doesn't have those towels anymore either. Mine are wearing out and I'm not sure where I'll replace them.

I, too, am a dish towel junkie and yet I still don't have any that I think absorb very well.
Microfiber, 100% cotton, bar towels, paper towels; they all leave something lacking.
I keep two in the kitchen, one for my hands and one mostly for counters and I change them often.
It seems like for those purposes the microfiber works best. I don't often dry dishes with these.
CI likes these the best: http://www.cooksillustrated.com/equipment_reviews/1492-dish-towels?incode=MCSCZ00L0&ref=search_results_1

Thanks Fuzzy - I was hesitating as we are planning a USA visit in the next few weeks so glad I got them. The store is Home Outfitters and only the location near me is closing. I think it's this brand (the Bay owns HO) but will check tonight, price is the same.

If this is what you want let me know as I can get them and mail when we are south.

Cantina is the brand name on mine, from what I see on the Dophes website this is a product line for them. I have to wash them and try them still and will report back.

Jean,

Thank you! However, as we gradually prepare for our move, I'm trying not to buy durable goods, even if that means we have to "make do" for a while.

Where in the USA are you going?

Move? Where to?

We are up in the air. Originally going to do a NY stop (my brother and assorted relatives) then a couple of days on the shore then DC. But our dollar is not great right now and adding 35% to summer prices is making me think twice. We can do a decent all inclusive in the Caribbean for the cost of 1 week of schlepping from hotel to hotel. Or even a week at Disney.

Latest plan is to just drive to Boston and NY to visit elderly relatives then have a few days to relax at home with the kids.

So, east coast but no idea of where!

Jean,

Portland is 90% likely.

I like SF a lot, but it's become very expensive, and very corrupt. I'd also like somewhere I an afford to devote more time to pottery and cooking instead of doing software work 60 hours a week.
