All,

I have a 30-year-old (pre-Whirlpool) KA dishwasher which I don't want to replace, since it would cost $800 and the new one wouldn't work as well as the old one does.

However, it needs a new door latch. I haven't been able to find parts for this model via googling; does anyone know sites which specialize in old appliances?

Josh,

I'd also just call every appliance repair store you can in SF and see if they can help.

I have a problem with my vintage KA spring in the soap dispenser, if you find a vintage KA parts store let me know, been washing dishes by hand for six months...if we would quit buying kids I could afford a new DW...doesn't seem likely...

Fuzzy, Frank...

You probably already found this, but the tip below is from the automaticwasher.org site:

there is a guy on eBay with a lot of pre KD-15 parts. Even hinges for the old top loader. The seller's name is "pfesales" and eBay store is PFE GAS/ELECTRIC PARTS plus MORE

Been doing that, actually. No good results so far. Last one ripped me off for a fee to show up, look at the dishwasher, and refuse to fix it.

My dishwasher just gave up the ghost, but the dispenser was shot from the day we got it (at a garage sale). I figured out how much time it took between starting it and when the dispenser should open -- 10 minutes. Then I just set a timer when I started the thing and chucked a dish tab in when the timer went off.
