I've been wanting an outdoor kitchen (totally jealous Laurie!), but I fear it's just not going to happen any time soon. Mostly, I want to do a lot of stir frying without getting my kitchen full of grease.

Dave, I know you bought 'The Big Kahuna' (at a bargain price, you lucky dog) about six years ago. Do you still like it?

Amy

P.S. Happy birthday!

Thank-you, Amy. Yes, I still like it and use it a lot in the summer (except two summers ago, when it was so hot here that I didn't want to set foot out there, except to harvest things, and necessary garden things), and when it gets warm enough in other seasons, when I get a craving for that high heat flavor, which I can't get that well even on my range. I use it often enough that the wok stays seasoned; at first, I would go too long, and get spots of rust on it, and have to reseason it, so now I just use it at least every 3 or 4 weeks.

BTW, I found that the 20", slightly deeper wok was much better to stir fry in that the shallower, 24" one that a friend gave me when he moved away.

Okay, what, pray tell, is a "The Big Kahuna"? I am pretty sure it isn't the water park that Google came up with. Nor the movie. Some sort of deluxe, outdoor cooking galley on wheels?

Steve,

It's a high-powered outdoor wok. Like this one here.

Dave bought it a long time ago, and I still think about it.

Very Nice! Carbon over Stainless, right? Chef's Resource sells them a bit cheaper with free shipping to the lower 48, but are out of stock right now.

I'll have to put Spongebob off for awhile!

Amazon has a fairly decent buy (not as cheap as I got it, but that was way back!) on one w/o the wok - the way I got mine, which didn't matter, since I already had 20" and 24" woks, along with the standard 14". Funny thing is, it says here that it will handle "up to 18" woks", and I have had no problems with the larger ones, though, as I said, the steeper one is easier to use.
