She ordered it because of all the good reviews but was still shocked at how good it worked. It is two dishwasher safe pieces that have little chance of breaking. You put 1-5 or so garlic cloves in it and twist. The more times you twist the finer the mince. It takes seconds, and seems to be way more useful than a press, which only has the one setting and I have broken several over the years.

I know Amy prefers hand mincing, and I have done it that way since CI's last garlic press winner broke, but I just ordered me one of these. I saw it in action. Very easy, reliable, and turns out a range of very consistent sized minces down to a paste.

Yes, I remember someone promoted those on TOBB when they first came out. Some people really liked them, and apparently used them for years.

Not so useful for me, but then I'm very fast with a knife and have multiple little electric choppers & grinders.

I like mine.......I like that I can keep the garlic contained and not have to use my cutting board. I'm not a huge garlic fan (I know, I know), so I just plop it from the gizmo to the pot.....Karen

Becca, how do you like it? My pampered chef (zyliss knockoff) lost too much of the finish and I tossed it, replaced with a ss trudeau model (to avoid the whole finish flaking issue) and cannot stand it.

I had one of those several years ago and found it to be take way more effort than it was worth (to me). It was also kind of messy. I tossed it and went back to the chef's knife and/or the garlic press.
I've also used the 'Slap Chop' with excellent results when I need lots of chopped garlic - it's just a bit of a pita to clean up.

I too prefer to use a knife. If I have lots, I just use my Cuisinart mini-prep. I have a two garlic presses an old Zyliss that DH uses and a Kuhn Rikon I love. I tend to cook in spurts, so my garlic often needs to be degermed. Easier to finish by hand after that. Kind of like it actually.

I love it so much that I just bought a new one. It takes a bit of getting used to. I use a knife to get the garlic out. Once you get the technique down, it's great. I really hate mincing a few garlic at a time. I don't mind doing a huge pile by hand.

thanks for all the feedback. I'm not that great with the knife unless in large quantities and speed is essential these days. I'm going to look for the twist up here.

I second the recommendation for the Kuhn Rikon garlic press. Just don't get the plastic version - the handles flex too much for it to be useful. But the metal version is great. Easy to clean too (rinse off and toss in the dishwasher).

I liked my Zyliss one too, but the flaking was concerning.
