Loved reading the definitions of metro-sexual. Until now, my litmus test for metro-sexual was whether the male in question did anything about his uni-brow.

Regarding colors of accoutrements, the one that leaves me scratching my head is the multitude of colors available for Kitchen-aid mixers. And I thought avocado green was bad.

Some days I wish I could be more metrosexual. I'm never quite sure how urban professional men find so much time to groom, while as an urban professional women I barely have time to brush my teeth. Clearly my priorities are off...

Actually, I was chatting about the catalog with my MIL. She pointed out that in the 70's, everything was bright colors, and it coordiated. So we're just returning to the 1970s ...

Poor Honey! He only qualified on one of the metrosexual list, and even then, not quite. He does drink wine but with him it's "jug or box?"

I remember everything being "Avocado," "Rust," or "Harvest Gold." I can't say much about avocado - I suspect it's showing up in a lot of kitchens again, if only for the ironic statement. My gran had the rust color scheme which was very dark and gloomy. The Harvest Gold was really pretty, I thought. I had a Harvest Gold kitchen in an apartment I had in the mid '90's and it was very warm and bright.

I guess it was too much color. When my parents built a house in the early eighties, they went with the current trend -- almond. Actually, that's the color of the appliances I inherited in my current kitchen. At this rate, I should have granite and stainless steel by 2020.

I'm really hoping stainless remains "in style" for a long time. It's worked in restaurant kitchens forever, so why not the home?
