Speaking of dish tabs and Target, Geekboy found the Finish dishwasher cleaner at Target today when he was picking up dish tabs.

All,

Interestingly, for all the other issues we've been having with our geriatric dishwasher, leaving a soapy film has not been an issue.

Found the reason why: we normally load the DW with half "natural" detergent, half Cascade. Guess what the primary active ingredient in the "natural" detergent is? Citric acid.

So maybe you don't need anything "magic". Just load one of your soap compartments with a citric-acid based cleanser, like Seventh Generation.

Yep. It almost looks like you can prevent your own buildup by alternating between 'natural' cleaning products and the old style.

One warning, though. Don't mix them together! The natural cleaners work with acids, the 'traditional' ones with alkalai. Putting the two of them together in the same load (in the same cycle) can lead to highly unpleasant effects*, especially if one or the other contains chlorine bleach.

*For you, not the dishes.
