I have the sucky Maytag front load stackers . . . those from the big class action lawsuit. They do not drain properly when finished, I need to suction the water out, dry, and then leave the door open. Otherwise, mildew and odor. Blech. I guess I'm so used to it I don't pay any attention any more. On the plus side, they do get clothes really clean and are good on stains.

Front loaders tend to leak more often than top loaders, but they can usually do larger loads and for less than half the water of a top loader. So long as you pick a good one and maintain it, a front loader will pay for itself compared to the cost of a top loader.

Also, front loaders let you do things like this.
