Thanks…I just bought to 8" and 2 6" pans…I'll try to figure it out. Any advice on how long to bake when you reduce the portions? |

Wilton has an excellent guide to this type of question: http://www.wilton.com/cakes/making-cakes/baking-serving-guide.cfm As they note, all ovens are slightly different; I would test for 'doneness' about 5 minutes prior to their recommendations. Let us know how this turns out, please |

So, I went with the 8" cake and filled them about 2/3 full. The recipe calls for 30 minutes and it took about 35 to be done. The cakes were fairly tall, so I cut a generous bit from the top of one for the bottom layer. What I really liked best about using the 8" instead of the 9" is that I could use an older cake plate I've had for years that would never work with the 9". I'm anxious now to try the 6" |
