Edited to delete recipe...I just couldn't sleep thinking I was helping to promote such a travesty... Somehow the beans seemed to be so minor in comparison...

At least he got the beans out in the open right off the bat. I think the other "weird" ingredients might fall into the area of flavor enhancer - I suspect you don't recognize the coffee as "coffee," same for the Marmite - but they will add depth to the flavor - and isn't that what we'd expect from Kenji? Just sorry you had to be the one to see it, Frank...

If he called it something other than Chili Frank, do you think you might have tried it? I just might have to some day when I feel like going over the top with time and ingredients. ilene

It goes without saying that he needs counseling; actually if he lives in Manhattan, he probably is in counseling. Tim

Wow, I might need to try that; sounds really interesting and tasty. Seems a shame to through out a whole bottle of marmite sans one teaspoon though....

Sounds FABALLUS Just freakin's fab-a-lus.......but I don't know that I would live long enough to uh, make this here recipe........
I have and make Sarah Moulton's "Big Boy Chili" (which, Frank, I don't want to hurt yer feelin's or nothin', but I'm from out west and not from the MIDwest) which has a lot of ingredients including beans. I'll take her recipe. The tribe LOVES it........
