Since I think the best part of Ruebens are the toasted buttered rye bread, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing and broiled swiss cheese, I might be inclined just to drop the meat. Butter the outside of the bread, toast it butter side down, add the dressing onto one side with the sauerkraut and swiss, and pop under the broiler. Top with the other toasted piece and serve. Or I might just pannini the whole assembly rather than do the 2 step process.

I'm not sure any of the sandwiches I like would be considered weird. My current fave is a roast chicken, roasted red pepper, Havarti cheese sandwich with chipotle mayo (one of the coffee shops here used to make them and called them Smoking Jack's). It's served cold. I also like roast chicken, cranberry, Havarti, romaine lettuce, and mayo.

Hi All,

As a child, our sitter would prepare grilled cheese with grape jelly on top of the bread. It was actually quite good.

My personal favorite weirdie is chicken Caesar salad panini, but the hands down winner of this competition will probably be found @ BuzzFeed's Food's 31 Grilled Cheeses That Are Better Than A Boyfriend I just put a few things on my shopping list so I can do #16, the Fig and Manchego Grilled Cheese on Olive Bread.
