MiGirl, I will keep my fingers crossed that you can obtain the much-coveted formula for transforming, nay ... even more, uplifting the pedestrian hotdog to the Elysian fields of ecstatic coneydom! Thank you for your efforts!

You bet, I'll email my brother today and see if the secret is available.

Tatoosh, Here's the email I recieved today from my brother. No recipe, but access to purchase.

5-2-11
L,
He will not give it out. He has it made by a company in Detroit and they only sell it to him. He will sell it over the net at Petesconey2llc.com. You can call him at 248-623-4300 and ask for Ed.

Wow, too bad about not being able to extract an recipe. I would contact him, but I live too far away for shipping it (I am in the Philippines). But I envy your convenience! Thank you for getting back to me and sharing.

Pete's Coney. is about 3 hours south of where I live. I do get down there a couple times a year, I may just have to stop by and get a quart. This guy is one of my brothers best friends, in fact my niece and nephews pictures are on the cover of his menu's. So if Greg can't get the reccipe out of him, no one can. In southern Michigan the secrets of the sauce is closely guarded.

I like Kevin's recipe. I have another that I scribbled in shorthand on a scrap of paper. The one small thing is that I alter it, but never write down the alterations. Dear Tim, does that make me a cook now? I will dig that one up and post it for you Tat.

crystal, thanks, I'd love to see any coney recipe you have. We have been enjoying chili fries from a local restaurant whose chili is very ... uhmm ... coney like. Here in the Philippines, the ubiquitous attitude is "It's a secret!". I mean even a simple balsamic vinegar and oil dressing is, to the chef or wait staff, a state secret.

I do love the photos on the website at Pete's Coney II, great look dogs!
