Marilyn is a wonderful woman who lives in Chicago and goes by the board name of bunnyw. We have somewhat similar stories...we're both from Chicago (although I haven't lived there in forever) both spent a lot of years in the advertising business, and both attended culinary school as the beginning of our second career. (She claims it was my decision to do so that inspired her decision.)

She's been very busy with work and some family matters, but I hope she'll be back at some point.

We had a delightful lunch at Froggy's when I was in Chicago this summer. She sends her regards to all.

Thanks, Amy! I've been wondering about her for so long!

I made 3 batches tonight.
First off...where has this nut chopper been all my life? It's WONDERFUL.

Secondly, I didn't realize that the brand of butter that I use for toffee has a new cheaper (I assume) version. In my experience cheaper butters separate and this version did that. Thankfully MJ from TOBB shared a tip to add some water (about 1/4 cup) if that happens and then bring the toffee back to temp. I had to do that twice to save the batch but it did. Then I put the rest of the blocks of that butter back in the freezer and got the butter I normally use (Lactancia My Country for other Canucks) and the next 2 batches went without problems.

I just tried to call her as I've not spoken with her in a while. She's at work right now, but hubby (Harlan for those who have met him), said he would have her call me when she gets home from work (baking).
