Post subject:  Improvising a fondue pot?

On Thursday I made fondue in honor of the Bears/Broncos game. (Fondue is something of a "tradition" in our house for important football games.) I happened to tell my sister in Chicago about this, and you could practically feel her drooling through the phone.

I'm heading back to Chicago tomorrow for two weeks, and I'd like to make this one night, but she doesn't own a fondue pot. Anyone have a suggestion on how to improvise?

I can lend you one of mine. Have your sister call me (see PM) and we can arrange for her to pick it up.
Otherwise, get a can about 4"x6", cut out top and bottom, punch some air holes around the edges with a church key, put the can of fuel inside the chimney, put that on a trivet on a sheet tray and put the pot on top of the whole assembly.

Becky,

That's awesome, but I fear my sister won't have the time to pick it up before you leave. I think I'll go with your can idea.

Thanks,

Amy
