I whisk the soaking liquid up in a 9" x 13" pan. Lay the bread slices on top of liquid, soak, flip with spatula and continue to soak until they're ready for cooking.

that really a problem ,often make some pans dirty ,so I do not make cake often , now get some ways from you ,can have a try .
