Ilene,

I saw this on the plane. I tried to watch the Julie part but after 2 segments I had to start turning the sound off for her; Julie is as whiny in the movie as she is in the book and didn't take long to really grate on my ears.

On the other hand, Streep was fantastic as Julia; I kept thinking they'd spliced videos of the real Julia in. I'd have loved a full movie of My Life in France, although I suppose there wasn't really enough plot there.

I agree, my biggest disappointment was that there will never be a movie of just My Life in France.

I started watching it on a plane last week...quickly went right to sleep.
