Idle curiosity -- What do y'all listen to when you are cooking? Lately I've been listening to YouTube playlists -- mostly Leonard Cohen, ABBA, or the Elan Meets Rafa Soundtrack playlists.

OK, I can't help it, but I watch crime solving shows while I'm cooking. Working in Pathology for 30 years, I'm drawn to it...I like the forensic stuff.........Odd looks from DH, though.

The kitchen radio is usually tuned to NPR, but audio books are king in our kitchen. Currently reading "The Killing Floor" on my mp3 player and "Wicked Autumn" on my fone.

I listen to WDST which is the Woodstock station in NY and it has the BEST roster of music. Or Pandora.

At home, NPR or an audiobook. At work, my pandora shuffle or the crap top 10 radio that is the only station that comes in at all well in the bakery.

Last time I worked in a bakery, the other two bakers wanted Gangsta Rap. Yay. Once in a while we'd listen to the college radio station. That consisted of a mix of pretty great music and the DJ grousing over the musical tastes of college student.

I only listen to NPR or audio books when I'm cleaning. I'll lose track of what I'm doing if I have too much stimulus, but not enough, and I'll get bored and start thinking about other things (The Pepsi Challenge would be a great way to demonstrate how studies work and how they can be manipulated.) and lose track of what I'm doing. Music strikes the right balance when I'm cooking. I've tried Pandora, but it insists that I must love "Sounds of Silence." I tell it no, but it thinks it just needs to find the right version. There are a lot of versions of "Sounds of Silence." :(

I'm with JesBelle; music (DI Radio -- usually funky house -- or shuffle) when I'm working (cooking or getting paid) and audio books when cleaning, and that sort of thing. Sometimes the local top 40 station.
